Clearwater Hosts BIG EAST Championship
BIG EAST Baseball Championship returns to Clearwater this May!
Baseball fans will converge on Bright House Field May 19-24 for the eight-team double-elimination baseball tournament. The championship kicks off with an opening ceremony and awards presentation on Monday, May 19th, beginning 5:00p.m. This event is free to the public and will feature a parade of the eight participating BIG EAST teams, raffles, giveaways and an autograph session.
The tournament continues:
Thursday, May 22nd beginning at 4:00p.m. - Quarterfinals
Friday, May 23rd beginning at 10:00a.m. - Semifinals
Saturday, May 24th at 1:00p.m. - Championship
The winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Bright House Field is regarded as one of the top minor league playing facilities in the nation, and serves as the spring training site for the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies' Florida State League affiliate Clearwater Threshers have called Bright House Field "home" since the facility opened in 2004.
